| This abstract expressionistic painting portrays the tragic removal of all southeastern tribes to a newly created Indian territory west of the Mississippi. Thousands perished on this trail. The Native American figures are coming from all directions but heading to an uncertain future. The right side of the painting represents the dead melting back into the earth. |
